My photographs takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues. Often referencing “masculinity,” my work explores the varying relationships between popular culture and fine art.
Within this subject I have engaged in conversations to help this project come to life by exploring different social views of masculinity held by different types of men. The photographs depict men doing things they like to do. In our society, typically, these things are not viewed as “masculine.” I utilized the unique personalities of each subject to help each photograph express a different feeling.
As i began to be perceived as a man in the world, i had a lot of questions about what makes a person “a man?”. It feels strange to be something not quite understandable. These images explore this very slippery topic. I collected photos of men, in different settings, alone or together, wearing certain outfits and in different poses that fit their personalities.
The LGBTQ+ man is one of my biggest concentrations in this ongoing project due to the stigmas around the community. The “Masc4Masc,” “No Fems” mindset, often seen on Queer dating apps or websites, is among the topics  I  explored with my models. I engaged these men in conversation and listened to their descriptions, explanations, thoughts, and feelings on the topic in an attempt to express each subjects view on masculinity
