INNOCENCE
My creations are variations of different emotions, sounds, environments and sometimes my own life experiences. The idea of the CHAINED series comes from my explorations of synesthesia a condition that allows you to see colors from sound, taste, words and sometimes abstract concepts like time projected in the space around them. An exploration of objects, textures, and colors.
My current body of work is an experimental response to this condition. An exploration of sound from songs and also from the space around me, my identity and the things I like. I created each scene listening to songs that triggered a memory from my childhood, an emotion and/or an aspect of my identity. An explosion of color visualization and objects that don't usually go together placed as I continue to listen to sounds that have a very metallic and colorful vibe to them. My goal was to create something that felt cohesive and experimental at the same time to create a visual representation of every sound I could hear and to truly experience my synesthesia as I placed objects and colors and textures throughout the piece(s).
This experiment and exploration turned into a series of 7 images that all have something in common; Chains - each representing an aspect of who I am. I hope that my pieces can help people understand the meaning of representation in an abstract perspective — as if they also had synesthesia themselves.
